If you struggle with criticism, you may want to look for a coach that takes a softer approach. If you are a no nonsense kind of person, a coach who is more direct may work better for you. You have to understand that a business coach is not a friend, and they are not there to tell you what a wonderful job you are doing. They are there to critique your business practices and help you find ways to develop a better strategy where one is needed.

One of the most common reasons business coaching fails, is the lack of commitment and effort put forth by the business owner or CEO who hired the coach. Before you spend the time and money to look for a hire a coach, make sure you are ready to listen to what someone from the outside has to say. You must be ready to hear some things that may make you uncomfortable and not just avoid your coach because you do not want to hear what they have to say.

Developing a strong working relationship that is built on trust is the only way your business coach will be able to help you reach all of your personal and company goals.
