A Daily Dread Dose Of Horrifying Movie Reviews

Are you thrilled by horror movies? The market is awash with several horror thrillers are worth watching. Hollywood in particular has been good at energizing our imaginations with some masterpieces of this kind. These have kept us glued to the screen watching these frightening movies. To the lovers of horror, lets us review the Exorcist, as part of our daily dread reviews. This has been touted as one of the most horrific productions of all the time.

The 1973 American horror film adapted from Peter Blattys 1971 novel that had the same name. This novel was inspired by Ronald Doe case of exorcism in 1949. The movie storyline talks of a mother who is desperate to win back her demon possessed 12-year-old girl through exorcism that is conducted by two priests.

Warner Bros released the movie by the end of December 1973. The movie shined all the way to be nominated in ten different Academy Award categories. It scooped two of these categories one being adapted screenplay category and the other being best sound mixing. Many years later, it was nominated as the scariest movie by several entertainment authorities all over USA and Europe.

The movie opens with a catholic priest somewhere in Iraq excavating an archeological site. The priest name is Lankester Merrin. As he goes about his business, he stumbles across an amulet that looks like Pazuzu, a demon that he had fought and banished years before. He realizes that the demon is back for revenge.

We are then taken to the home of Chris MacNeil, a famous actress in Washington D. C who are playing Ouija board with her 12 year old daughter called Regan. Suddenly in the midst of playing the board, Regan starts to behave strangely. She makes strange frightening sounds and even talks in bad language to her own mother. Furthermore, he exhibits unprecedented strength. She even goes further to shake her bed, much to the horror of everyone.

The horrified mother seeks assistance from several physicians who perform a series of tests on her. Unfortunately, they do not find anything medically wrong with her and are not aware that Pazuzu has possessed her. A few nights later, Regan kills her babysitter and her mothers director, Burke Dennings. A detective called Kinderman is called in to investigate the murder. The detective interviews Regans mother and a priest turned heathen called Karras.

Soon doctors recommend exorcism as the only way to cure Regans condition. Chris, her mother calls in Karras to help. Karras refuses at first but after seeing words help me in her stomach and listening to a recording where she talks in reverse, he agrees to the request alongside another priest called Merrin.

The two priests are unable to exorcise the demon. It mocks them in the process even abusing Karras dead mother. Karras leaves after sometime. Merrin is left to deal with the demon. However, after some time Karras comes in only to find Merrin dead. He pleads with the demon to leave Regan and enter him instead. He sacrifices his life by jumping over a window and dying out of head injuries. This banishes Pazuzu from earth. Regan feels better after sometime and returns home. Kinderman, befriends her to help unveil why Karras died. This is a real thriller.
