How To Work As A Certified Life Practitioner

By Patrick Long

Figuring out whether being a life coach is the right move or career path for you to follow can be nerve-wracking. You always want to make the best choice when choosing your career so that you do not later regret the choice you made. This is an article on working as a certified life practitioner.

The first step you should take is to specialize in a particular area. There are a lot of fields involved with being a life coach. You want to focus your expertise in only one area that you feel the most comfortable in. It can be confusing to customers to find out that you offer services different from their specific need. Most would even question your integrity and would not want to work with you.

Training is required for you to acquire the necessary skills to help you through. You need to have great communication skills to help you in your conversations. Being observant is also one skill you should have as it helps you properly assess the situation of the client. Learn about the etiquette involved with coaching and work in general.

Having completed a training program, get a certificate to show for your skills. It is a great way to earn the trust of the clients when you have a credential to prove your professionalism. This is especially true when the accreditation comes from a world known organization such as the International Association of Coaching. It shows that you are knowledgeable about the services you are offering and that you possess the required skills relating to the profession.

Be a registered entity to begin offering your services. Do no start operations without having to register with the relevant authorities. Consider registering as a limited liability company to avoid being liable for any lawsuit filed against the company. You could also register as the sole proprietor if you are willing to take risks. Do not forget to get the tax compliant certificate and file them when required to.

Location of your office is really important. You must be in an area where there are more of your target customers. Being in an area that you receive very few to no clients could be devastating for the business. After figuring out the location, find a good enough space to be your office. A big space gives enough confidence to both you and the clients.

Charging customers too high could make you lose them. Charging them too low could bring down your business. You need to find the right balance in the pricing that is of convenience to both you and the consumers. Figure out what most coaches charge and determine the best price range for you from there. Also, decide the various ways you want payments to be made. You could base the charges purely on subscriptions or on per session basis.

Make sure you have insured your business to cover any damages or losses you encounter. If you have employees working for you, consider setting a compensation cover for your workers. Businesses often have low periods, and you could be having trouble paying your employees. You probably do not need an insurance cover yourself, but you could check with your provider for options.
